According to the amended Article 87 of the European Patent Convention
that has taken effect on December 13, 2007, all first filings made in
a member economy of the WTO can claim priority rights at the EPO. Accordingly,
all patent applications originated from Taiwan, although currently not
a member of the Paris Convention but a member economy of the WTO, can
claim priority rights at the EPO.
