In recent years, TIPO has been committed to promoting the use of second-hand textbooks on campuses. On June 20, 2008, TIPO intensified these efforts by holding a special spring-semester used textbook recycling event on campuses across Taiwan. Students and teachers were encouraged to sell or donate previously-used original edition textbooks at stands set up within campus. An estimated 22 colleges, universities and bookstores took part in the event, which received an enthusiastic response from all participants. TIPO plans to organize another textbook sale at the beginning of the fall semester in September, and hopes to establish a permanent plan on campuses for second-hand textbook exchange. These actions will help change the attitude among students toward the use of copyrighted textbooks and against illegal publishing or copying.
