If a patent certificate is destroyed, lost or damaged to the extent that it is no longer usable, the patentee should state the reasons in writing when applying for issuance of a replacement or a substitution.

However, foreign residents who do not have an agent in Taiwan cannot apply for issuance of a replacement or a substitution.
