You may request patent conversion before the original written decision on the patent grant is served. The filing date of the original patent application shall be deemed to be the filing date of the converted patent application.

If a patent application originally filed for invention or design is rejected, the applicant may request patent application conversion within 2 months after the date on which the decision of rejection is served. If a patent application originally filed for a utility model is rejected, the applicant may request patent application conversion within 30 days after the date on which the decision of rejection is served.

A converted patent application shall not extend beyond the scope of content disclosed in the description, claim(s), or drawing(s) of the original patent application as filed.
