I'm a business owner. I don't pirate software, but merely use pirated software installed by others in the course of doing business. Is this legal?

Even if you didn't pirate the software, merely using pirated software installed by others in the course of doing business is still considered an infringement of copyright under the Copyright Act, and carries civil and criminal liability. The criminal liability, however, falls in the category of crimes prosecutable on complaint only, so criminal prosecution cannot proceed unless a complaint has been filed.
