The 2024 TIPA IP Symposium to Take Place on October 4, 2024
TIPO and the Intellectual Property and Commercial Court will be co-hosting the 2024 TIPA IP International Symposium on October 4, 2024 at the NTU College of Law Tsai Lecture Hall for both online and in-person audiences. Titled Due Process of Handling Technical Disputes in Patent Infringement Lawsuits, the Symposium invites legal professionals and experts from the U.S., Japan, and Germany to speak and share their experiences with patent infringement litigations in their countries.
On January 12, 2023, the Legislative Yuan passed the third reading of the amendments to the Intellectual Property Case Adjudication Act. The Act previously contained 41 articles and was amended to include 77 articles, making it more comprehensive. The amended provisions are specifically applicable to the adjudication of patent-related civil litigation cases, the proceedings related to technical disputes, and the interactions between legal representatives and the courts. However, whether the revisions meet the intended objectives and expectations of the amended law, or whether there are areas requiring further coordination and discussion, remains to be seen through dialogue and experience sharing across various sectors.
This symposium aims to provide a platform for international experts, judges of Taiwan's Intellectual Property and Commercial Court, practicing lawyers, and scholars to exchange their opinions and provide reference for the practice of patent infringement litigations in Taiwan. For further information about the Symposium, we welcome all interested parties to visit the TIPA website.
