The World Intellectual Property Day

In 2000, the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) announced that the date on which the Convention Establishing the World Intellectual Property Organization entered into force – 26 April – would be observed as World Intellectual Property Day. Since 2001, member states around the world have been observing this day with events designed to connect with everyday life.

Since 2006, TIPO has been organizing various activities in observation of World Intellectual Property Day and according to the themes announced by WIPO each year. Past activities and events include: concerts, seminars, counterfeit goods identification events, indie music concerts, dance choreography recitals, street artist performances recitals, etc.

World Intellectual Property Day has been celebrated for 20 years, and past themes have focused on imagination, creativity, and innovation – conveying the message that the most important part of the day is the creative works inspired by human imagination. We will continue to promote and implement the protection of IPR to build a quality IP environment, promote the concept and importance of IPRs, and to cultivate respect for IPRs, so as to encourage the continuation of such creativity and to prompt more people to engage in innovation.
