TIPO has released its English version of the “Patent Examination Guidelines, Part II: Substantive Examination for Invention Patents, Chapter 4. Unity of Invention and Chapter 5. Priority”. This should help to enhance the international IP community’s understanding of Taiwan’s patent examination process of ensuring accurate assessment of the two key substantive requirements that determine whether multiple technologies can be examined in a single application and the base date for evaluating patentability requirements, and improve services provided to foreign applicants of any patent application for compliance with the Unity of Invention and Priority.
