Positive Feedback for AEPRe Program Prompts Continued Trial Implementation for Another Year Starting September 1, 2026
TIPO launched the Accelerated Examination Program for Reexamination (AEPRe) on September 1, 2024, to expedite the reexamination of invention patent applications. Since the launch of the trial program, the average pendency from AEPRe application submission to the issuance of examination results has been just 24.5 days, earning high praise from applicants and patent agents alike. In light of this success, TIPO has decided to extend the trial implementation of the program for another year starting September 1, 2026. Applicants from all sectors are welcome to continue making full use of this program to accelerate patent examination and portfolio development, enhancing the competitiveness of innovative industries.
AEPRe applies to reexamination cases in which only part of the claims were rejected during the initial examination. Applicants are encouraged to proactively amend the claims during reexamination to align with the allowable scope identified in the initial examination decision. By doing so, the case qualifies for accelerated examination procedures under the AEPRe program.
