TIPO Publishes English Versions of “Unity of Invention” and “Priority” of the Patent Examination Guidelines

Font Size:

TIPO has published the English version of “Chapter 4. Unity of Invention” and “Chapter 5. Priority” under the Patent Examination Guidelines, Part II: Substantive Examination for Invention Patents, aiming to enhance the international IP community’s understanding of Taiwan’s patent substantive examination practices. “Chapter 4. Unity of Invention” sets forth the rules for regulating and determining whether multiple inventions form a single general inventive concept and may therefore be examined in a single patent application. Meanwhile, “Chapter 5. Priority” explains the base date for evaluating patentability requirements. Both serve as key substantive requirements in patent examination.
