TIPO Supports Research Institutes in Safeguarding R&D Results with Upgraded Trade Secret Management

To further assist academic and research institutions in strengthening their trade secret protection systems, TIPO hosted two sessions of the Workshops for Managing Trade Secrets with Academic and Research Institutions on July 16 and 18. The workshops focused on 13 key management measures outlined in the Practical Guidelines for Managing Trade Secrets in Academic and Research Institutions, and brought together 60 representatives from 19 legal entity research institutions, including ITRI, the Development Center for Biotechnology, the Food Industry Research and Development Institute, and the Metal Industries Research & Development Center.
Through real-world case studies and risk-based scenarios, the workshops guided participants to adopt a three-tiered framework—introductory, basic, and advanced—based on the "Practical Guidelines for Trade Secret Management in Academic and Research Institutions". TIPO aims to help institutions independently assess and strengthen their confidentiality systems, ultimately building a robust protection network for the R&D outcomes and applications of Taiwan’s academic, industrial, and research sectors.
