TIPO Publishes 2024 Annual Report
In 2024, TIPO continued to refine Taiwan’s intellectual property legal framework, including amendments to selected articles of the Trademark Act, which took effect in May. The office also maintained stable processing time for both patents and trademarks: the average first action pendency and disposal pendency for invention patents were 8.4 and 14.2 months, respectively, while those for trademarks were 6.1 and 7.4 months. Notably, invention patent reexaminations under accelerated examination were approved in as little as 15 days. In addition, electronic filing rates reached 91.5% for patents and 89.2% for trademarks.
To help enterprises strengthen their patent strategies and brand value, TIPO launched a new AI-powered image-based trademark search tool, promoted the Taiwan Patent GO platform, and supported outstanding companies in attending trade shows to create new business opportunities. On the international front, the Taiwan–Philippines Intellectual Property Cooperation MOU was extended for another four years. TIPO also organized the New Southbound Intellectual Property Conference s, introducing the patent systems and key practices of Southeast Asian countries and India to support businesses in expanding their patent portfolios into those markets.
TIPO's 2024 highlights and achievements are now detailed in the 2024 TIPO Annual Report, available on our official website for all interested parties.
