TIPO Publishes 2025 Annual Report
TIPO continues to enhance the intellectual property environment, improve examination efficiency, deepen international cooperation, and promote digital service innovation, strengthening Taiwan’s innovation momentum.
In 2025, the average first action pendency and disposal pendency for invention patent applications were reduced to 8 months and 13.8 months, respectively, while those for trademark applications were 5.6 months and 7.1 months. Meanwhile, electronic filing rates reached 93.4% for patents and 93.7% for trademarks, demonstrating the achievements of TIPO’s digital transformation in IP services.
TIPO also actively introduced a range of measures to help businesses strengthen their global patent portfolios. In April, it launched the Taiwan Patent GO section on its official website to showcase Taiwan’s award-winning patents. In November, it added a cross-class recommendation function for goods and services to improve trademark application convenience and service quality.
On the international front, TIPO continued to expand its international cooperation network. In May, it signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on the Patent Prosecution Highway (PPH) with France. In November, it concluded MOUs on the PPH MOTTAINAI and IP cooperation with the Israel Patent Office (ILPO). In December, it signed a Patent Data Exchange Agreement with the German Patent and Trade Mark Office (DPMA), further enhancing international collaboration and strengthening IP protection and related services.
