Patent Certification Exam for IP Professionals Now Held Biennially Starting 2025 – Registration Now Open

Font Size:

Since 2010, TIPO has commissioned the Taiwan Intellectual Property Training Academy (TIPA) to conduct the Intellectual Property Capacity Building Certification Test, aiming to establish a nationally recognized certification system for IP professionals. The goal is to set a consistent professional standard and enhance the overall quality of IP talent, thereby boosting industry competitiveness.

Taking into account years of testing experience, registration trends, and resource planning, TIPO has decided to adjust the frequency of the Patent Certification Exam to once every two years starting in 2025. As a result, there will be no patent certification exam in 2026.

To align with this change and ensure fairness to all examinees, starting in 2025, the patent certification exam will be held every other year and the validity period for passing individual subject scores will be extended from three to six years. Passing scores are valid for this six-year period, and candidates can complete all required subjects across four examination attempts, which offers greater flexibility and safeguard the interests of examinees.

The retention period for exam results during the transition period has been adjusted as follows:

For examinees who began taking the exam in 2023, the results of each subject will be retained until 2027.

For examinees who began taking the exam in 2024, the results of each subject will be retained until 2029.

For examinees who begin taking the exam in 2025 and onward, the results of each subject will be retained for six years.

Registration for this year's exam is now open and will remain available until July 28. All are welcome to sign up.
